I’m no fan of Trump, but I am a fan of him representing all Americans, getting us through four years of no nuclear war, fewer aggressive tweets, protecting our water and air (ie not destroying or hobbling the EPA), appointing moderate Supreme Court Justices, and supporting democractic values, including equal rights for all.

IE, all the things he shows no sign of doing, thus far.

One of the things he least respects is criticism. Dissent. Both are fundamental to democracy, and anathema to authoritarianism. Criticism, of course, should be respectful, and not ad hominem. IE, you call him orange, talk about his hair…you’re part of the problem.

And so, I’ll do my part to be respectfully critical of this dress…which is beautiful, even if she’s essentially aiming to troll all those who support the arts, diversity, women’s rights.

So I’ll call it best dress of the night (or second best, after this), because it gets people talking, and hopefully caring. America isn’t about us vs. them, about teams. We’re all in this together.
